Story

Jana Traversy is a Canadian artist who produces work in a variety of media including drawing, painting, printmaking and mixed-media. She is a graduate from Algonquin College Fine Arts where she majored in Colour Theory, and Art History courses at Ottawa School of Art.

Her work has been exhibited in France and Italy as well as North America and is in many private and corporate collections. She has been published in Humble Magazine, Montreal, Quebec. Several of her works are archived at the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa, Ontario. She has the honour of being selected to exhibit in the highly-acclaimed Kingston Prize for Contemporary Portraiture.

Her work resonates with a distinctive, personal style using contrasting and harmonious colours as well as bold compositions. She considers herself somewhat of a ‘story teller’ and invites the viewer in on her visual journey.

“As I paint, the subject opens up for me and colour relationships become more precise. The longer I look and the changes I make allow my art to speak to me and to create a visual sense that others can relate to.”
